Duties, Tariffs & Customs Fees
At Sweet and Scandalous, we believe in transparency and want you to be fully informed before placing your order. Since most of our products are manufactured and shipped from China and other international fulfillment centers, it's important to understand how customs duties and import taxes may apply depending on your country of residence.
Customers in Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Netherlands, and New Zealand
Due to established trade agreements and import regulations in these countries, it is highly unlikely that you will face any extra customs duties, VAT, or import taxes when your package arrives. The price you see at checkout is the final amount—no hidden fees. While we can’t make absolute guarantees (as customs processes are ultimately up to local authorities), these destinations are generally considered low-risk for additional charges, and the vast majority of our customers in these regions receive their orders without any issues.
Customers in the United States
As of May 2, 2024, the U.S. government has made significant changes to its de minimis exemption, particularly concerning imports from China. The de minimis threshold previously allowed shipments valued under $800 USD to enter duty-free. However, this exemption has now been removed for goods from China, and additional tariffs and customs duties may apply—even for lower-value shipments.
Because our products are primarily produced and shipped from China, there is a possibility that U.S. customers may incur extra fees upon delivery, such as customs duties, taxes, or handling charges issued by the shipping carrier.
We understand this may raise concerns. The policy change is new and rapidly evolving, and even many businesses and logistics providers are still working to fully understand how enforcement will unfold. We are actively monitoring developments, and we will continue to update our policies and communication to reflect any changes that may impact your order.
For now, we simply ask our American customers to be aware of this situation and understand that they may be responsible for additional fees in order to receive their package. We deeply appreciate your understanding and continued support during this period of uncertainty.
